ExhibitionsAsian Embroidery: A Rich Heritage

Museum Exhibition 2011

This is an extensive exhibition of embroidered textiles from Japan, China, Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam, Burma (Myanmar) and the Philippines. There are objects embroidered for the home, for everyday and ceremonial costume and as religious, ceremonial textiles. These range from a Philippine pina cloth made from fibres from the pineapple plant to a Japanese temari ball, and a Chinese wedding bed hanging to a baby carrier and a ceremonial hat.
