Physical Description
'Muak' - Mitre shaped ceremonial hat said to come from the Khonmang Province, Laos. The hat is constructed of cardboard sections covered with red commercial fabric and elaborately embroidered with couched silver thread. Scattered additional stitches in silk thread and small fragments of silver paper are added. The hat has a back flap in inverted shield shape, and four narrow front flaps heavily embroidered with couched silver thread. The whole hat is lined with white cotton and has many decorative pompoms. s.
