Physical Description

A large, square ceremonial cover or cushion. A central panel of red woollen fabric has a round glass disc in the centre over a design of couched gold thread and sequins. This is surrounded by a large flower-like motif in gold, couched in a variety of patterns. Foliate patterns of couched gold with triangular glass inserts enclosing sequins. The red centre panel is surrounded with a border of couched gold. An outer border of black woollen cloth is decorated with foliate motifs of couched gold with glass inserts over sequins. The whole is edged with gold metal-thread bobbin style lace. The gold thread is couched in red and the sequins are handmade.
