ExhibitionsPatchwork and Appliqué

Museum Exhibition 2009

An exhibition showing patchwork and appliqué objects from South Australia and farther afield, ranging from objects stitched in England prior to the settlement of South Australia, a quilt stitched in England by Elizabeth Hardy before her marriage and then brought here when she emigrated with her husband in the mid 1800s and objects pieced and appliquéd in South Australia.

Other textiles include an Arpillera from Chile – from the time of Pinochet, molas from Panama, a tent hanging from Afghanistan, Hmong and Akha textiles from Thailand, African textiles and a piece of Amish patchwork.
