Physical Description
Rectangular ecru cotton banner with an applied red 'V' (for victory) in the centre. Names are all embroidered in stem stitch with a single strand of red or dark blue cotton thread. Machine hemmed.
Theme and Purpose
World War II. Fighting Forces Comforts Fund?. To raise funds for the local Branch during WW2, members of the public were asked to sign their names on the cloth for a small cost in order to raise funds. These names were then embroidered. Made by the local women of Maitland.
