Physical Description

Burnt orange silk Turkish wrapping cloth (bohca) with appliqué and metal thread embroidery. The embroidery is particularly heavy and covers the entire piece. Motifs include a central stylised sunflower surrounded by an allover pattern of scrolling flowers which include tulips and leaves. The pattern originates from each corner which contains the same large stylised vase. The corners are folded obliquely to display the repeat pattern in each corner. All the flowers have an appliqué base which is edged and decorated with gold work. Edged with gold braid. Backed with burnt orange silk.
