Physical Description

Yao (White Trouser) sleeveless, tunic top with a plain dark handwoven indigo dyed cotton fabric front and paler embroidered indigo dyed back. There are dark indigo dyed fabric strips that go over the shoulders and join onto the front and the back sections. There are black resist dyed squares, a fine border and wide lower band on the lighter fabric which are incorporated into the embroidery design which is geometric and symmetrical. Orange, black and white silk thread used in the flat stitch embroidery which emulates Algerian Eye Stitch. Three black and orange star shaped designs in long, flat stitches are part of the design.
