Physical Description
Very fine handwoven cotton muslin towel with heavy bands of embroidery at each end. A repeat pattern of small bunches of stylised pink grapes on a brown background in a border enclosing a rectangular band of repeat motifs of large bunches of stylised yellow grapes or wheat ears on a green background all worked with silk thread in Turkish two-sided stitch (Musabak stitch) and double darning. Reversible embroidery. Hemstitched with silver metallic thread around all sides of the brown border and the same thread also used to crochet the edging on the end and two sides of the embroidered panel.
