Physical Description
An off-white cotton toran or Indian door hanging with exceptional shisha work on the seven triangular flaps at the bottom of the hanging. Shisha mirrors are also applied as bands and decorative elements on the upper portion. The upper portion is embroidered allover in purple and orange silk thread in geometric designs. The flaps are heavily embroidered allover with multicoloured silk incorporating the shisha mirrors. Each flap is different. Most are geometric designs but one has birds, flowers, leaves and stems. Stitches include running, double running, buttonhole, satin, square chain, fly and herringbone. Some sections of the hanging are backed with cotton fabric. There are three loops at the top of the hanging.
