Physical Description
Dark cream fine chiffon tablecloth with maroon and cream embroidery. There are two heavy geometric borders of maroon and cream counted thread work using cross and satin stitch. Between these borders is one of fine cream embroidery with a repeat arcaded design containing geometric repeated motifs worked in satin stitch and pulled fabric work. There is a very narrow outside border in cream with repeat motifs in satin stitch and needleweaving. Hemmed with four-sided stitch. The centre of the cloth is evenly divided into sixteen squares with wavy red and cream lines worked in cross and satin stitch, each with a central cream star motif. Cotton and perhaps rayon thread.
