Physical Description

Large natural linen, handwoven table runner with a heavily embroidered border.The border is wider at each end with applied braid and long fringing and there are matching tassels at each corner. The design is mainly worked with a dark red cotton with some green and other touches of colour. The end bands consist of repeat motifs of eight pointed stars. The narrower bands along the length are alternating stylised plants and trees. The runner consists of two pieces of fabric joined with faggoting. Stitches include half cross, double running and straight stitch.
