Rectangular cream linen table mat with an applied 7cm linen needle lace border. The motifs in the border may tell a story. There are various figures - some standing, some in boats, some on horses and one on a horse drawn chariot. There is a lighthouse in one corner. A fine drawn thread work whipped insertion echoes the rectangular shape of the mat. Stitches include buttonhole and hemstitch.
