Round black velvet mat with a large round central medallion heavily decorated with jewelled embroidery and gold work. Semiprecious stones, probably rubies, have been incorporated into the silk embroidered design. The central red flower is surrounded by foliage and set within a blue satin stitched 8-pointed star. This central star is surrounded by 8 densely worked repeat motifs of flowers and foliage. Rose gold metallic fringe. Red, purple, blue, orange and green silk thread and gold thread.
