Physical Description
Yao (White Trouser) tightly gathered skirt of handwoven indigo dyed cotton fabric. There are four black bands of resist dyed patterns in varying widths, a border of orange silk 'felt' at the bottom edge with a central line of yellow machine stitching, and small rectangles of the same silk 'felt' have been applied at intervals around the skirt just below the waist. An embroidered (pattern darned in black on red) band has been attached under the silk 'felt' band. Silk thread.
