Physical Description
Alphabet, lettering or marking sampler, worked entirely in cross stitch with single strands of red cotton thread on a loose-weave ecru linen. There are two alphabets and two sets of numerals from 1 to 9 with an 0 at the end, and signed Martina de Wilt. The text is framed by a stitched double border, the outside border being a single row around all four sides and an inner border worked in a small repeat pattern. The first alphabet is not worked in the usual way and reads: 'IHNMJLFETPBRKD AUVWYCGOQSXZ' Private Collection
