Physical Description

Miao child's summer hat consisting of a crown of 4 joined red sections attached to a very small padded 3D motif (four leaves around a knob) on the centre top. The crown is attached to a plain black rim strip. A thin commercial braid with a green synthetic fringe joins the crown to the black rim. The four panels are decorated with 2 repeat patterns of stylied flowers and butterflies. Multicoloured silk thread. Stitches include satin, buttonhole, long and short, and French knots. There is some laid work.
