Physical Description
Unfinished front panel for a Miao woman's jacket. Indigo dyed handwoven cotton fabric embroidered with multicoloured silk thread. The blue and green cross stitched background of diamond shapes and triangles edged with red, is bordered by applied white and yellow tapes with some satin stitch, cross stitch and straight stitch repeat designs. Two appliquéd red diamond shapes are embroidered with a yellow scrolling design in broad chain and sixteen smaller white diamond shapes have been decorated with red, green and purple spots in satin stitch. Tiny half cross stitch borders complete the design.
