Physical Description

Miao minority apron with an embroidered bib, waist and side panels. The bib and side panels are worked on red cotton fabric and the waist on green. Multicoloured floral designs have been worked on all sections in satin stitch with silk thread. Three pairs of birds, possibly cocks, have also been worked on the waist panel. There is a pleated central section in light blue and black fabric. The two blue and white cotton ties at the waist may be handwoven. They are finished with green tassels.There is a very small amount of couching on the waist band; black twisted thread is couched with white. A saw tooth edging on the waist band and side panels is worked with buttonhole stitch.
