Physical Description

Front panel from a Miao woman's jacket. Embroidered on indigo-dyed hand woven fabric with multicoloured thread. The blue and green cross stitched background of diamond shapes and triangles edged with red, is bordered by applied white and yellow tapes with some satin stitch and straight stitch repeat designs. Four appliquéd red diamond shapes are embroidered with a yellow scrolling design in broad chain and twelve smaller white squares have been decorated with red, green and purple spots in satin stitch.
