Physical Description
A supper cloth of coarsely woven natural coloured linen with a design of stylized, four-petalled flowers and geometric shapes worked in cutwork and surface stitching in golds, green, cream and black with some gold metal thread. The scalloped edge is worked in buttonhole stitch in pale fawn thread. The embroidery is unfinished, although one quarter is quite complete, suggesting that this may originally have been a dealer's sample piece. The remainder is partly worked. The cloth, partly worked, was brought to Australia in 1926 by the donor's parents on their return from a holiday in Germany.
