Physical Description

A baby's bonnet of Ayrshire embroidery. A roundel, 5cm in diameter, at the centre back is in Ayrshire embroidery with fine needlemade fillings. This is edged with tiny triangular peaks each with a needlemade filling. The fabric of the bonnet is decorated with fine tucks and drawn thread work. The front is edged with a band of embroidery and drawn thread work and three rows of finely gathered fabric edged with Valenciennes bobbin lace. One row of gathering and lace extends around the back of the bonnet. There are five gathering cords.
