The hinged handle is of cream painted wood with a brass sleeve sliding over the hinge. The tip is of ivory. The parasol is pagoda shaped, the cover is in five parts, the lower part gathered in deep scallops on to the upper. The strands of brown and blue silk that make up the 12cm deep fringe have been attached to the edge by hand. The parasol is entirely hand sewn.
