Physical Description
A 'baby's first shirt' undershirt of typical 19th century style - wide neck and full length back/front opening. Armholes are reinforced. Short sleeves are gathered to armhole and gathered in to a sleeve band which is edged with baby Bucks bobbin lace. One side of the sleeve extends across the collar at the underarm to provide fullness without a gusset. The triangular returns across the shoulder are lace edged and held in place with tiny dorset buttons. This is a very good example of fine hand sewing.
