Physical Description
Margret Gatis 1711 reproduction (framed) of an original already held in the collection as described below. Margret Gatis linen sampler dated 1711. English band sampler with a knot garden and drawn thread work. There are two alphabets and numerals from 1 to 10. Stitches include cross, square eyelets, montenegrin, double running, counted satin and buttonhole eyelets. Embroidery is worked in pink, blue, yellow, green and cream silk thread. Birdseye maple frame.
