Physical Description
Mounted embroidery of gold thread on fine white church linen depicting the title of the "Golden Thread" Guild exhibition of 2015. Worked with gold passing thread in stitches used on 16th and 17th century English embroideries. There are also fine lines of couched 4 ply twist in Antique Gold. Font used is "Chopin" and each letter is stitched in a different stitch as follows: G: Plaited Braid Stitch, variation 2 O: Ladder Stitch with Herringbone filling L: Elizabethan Braid Stitch D: Reverse Chain threaded or looped on both sides E: Three-column Ceylon Stitch N: Double-threaded Laid Stitches T: Plaited Braid Stitch - Elizabethan - Cherry variation H: Double Vandyke Stitch worked through the two previous stitches R: Looped Straight Stitches E: Ladder Stitch A: Threaded Reverse Chain D: Ladder Stitch with a Double Back Stitch filling The panel is laced over foam core and backed with white fabric.
