Physical Description

A seventeenth (17th) or possibly nineteenth (19th) century fragment cut from a larger piece. A repeat floral pattern worked in silk thread covers the base of typical deep cream gauze weave. Flowers include deep red carnations with green and other flowers are in fawn, greeny yellow, blue and pale cream. This rare example of Buratto lace is worked in flat stitches including staight and satin stitch.
