Physical Description

2 fragments from a pair of Persian ladies trousers (nakshe). Counted work on hand woven linen using silk thread. Allover design of flowers and buds contained in diagonal strips. Worked in blue, deep pink and ecru in very fine counted satin stitch. Fragment (a) is from Azerbaijan, 18th century. Fragment (b) is dated 1800.
