Physical Description
Cut-pile raffia textile (mat?). Thread used is very fine raffia fibre from palm trees. Fibres are rubbed in the hands to soften them. This example of Kuba cloth from Zaire - mostly cut-pile technique but with parts of patterns reserved by unstitched cloth. Shows seven different patterns in black, light tan and gold coloured thread.
