Physical Description

Front panel that has been cut from a shirt. There is a slit opening and it has a Nehru collar. It is a 'T' shaped fragment. The collar is embroidered in black with a series of loops of silver-wrapped cord with a silver spangle in the centre of each loop. This is repeated along the front opening surrounded by a further band of black with embroidered and couched motifs. On either side of the central black panel is embroidery in pink and mauve satin stitch motifs - very faded. Along one side is a seam of coloured silk alternating buttonhole stitch. Ecru ground fabric is probably hand-woven. The reverse has a lining and remnants of silk embroidery.
