Physical Description

A round linen mat with an embroidered circular design of three peacocks and six trees laden with fruit - a repeat pattern worked in needlepainting in greens, blue and browns in single strand silk thread. Stem stitch detail on tail and crest feathers. The whole design is encircled with an embroidered border of single peacock feathers. The scalloped edge is stitched in padded buttonhole stitch with needlelace picots in the indentations.
