Physical Description

(a) White cotton chemise. There is a very wide neck-line and short sleeves. There are underarm gussets and long tapered inserts in the side seams from the underarm. There is a tiny monogram 9cm x 1cm "AR" surmounted by a crown 5cm from the top of edge of the neck front. The whole is assembled with finely stitched flat fell seams.(b) White cotton split drawers. A wide yoke-like panel with tape shoulder straps. The back of the yoke is laced and button over a flap. Tapes from the top of the opening split appear to button at the front. The bottoms of the legs have buttoned cuffs and lace edging.Both garments show fine hand sewing.
