Physical Description
Linen shirt possibly from Central/Eastern Europe. Heavily embroidered in green silk. Traditional peasant style of construction with yoke and sleeves tightly gathered and embroidered at shoulders and wrists. Closed square chain stitch worked with bars close together which Central Europeans call 'small writing stitch' or 'large writing stitch' depending on the width of the chain and the thickness of the stitch. The yoke is embroidered in cross stitch using reserved pattern. On each sleeve is a motif of the Agnus Dei also embroidered in closed square chain.
