Mat, believed to be Romanian, in white coarse linen with narrow, hand-stitched hem. Edge is finished with 1cm border of red, long-legged cross stitch in a regular pattern. The interior design includes a 2.5cm border at each end in a formal traditional pattern. This is worked in red long-legged cross stitch and black cross stitch. Borders are connected with a single row of red cross stitch.
