Physical Description
This object cannot easily be classified. It consists of a strip of canvas-work embroidery attached at either end to a thin, flat trapezoid shaped piece of polished wood. The embroidery is worked in cross stitch with a formal floral design in red, greens and gold against a cream background. There is a red silk lining and the piece is edged with a narrow red cord which is also used to attach the embroidery to the back board. There are red silk ribbon bows at each end of the embroidery and a red silk bow with a long looped tail attached to the centre of the embroidery. The purpose of the piece is a mystery!!
