Physical Description
This single table napkin worked in the Italian style known as Leone e Uccelli. Worked on fine linen with intermittent design in cutwork with needlelace fillings. Each design component consists of a bird, surrounded by four leaf motifs. The design elements are separated by a single row of two birds and three leaf motifs. Fine rolled hemstitched border with decorative motifs at corner. Late 19th or early 20th century.
