Physical Description

Ecru handwoven cotton hand towel with two bands of embroidery at each end. The repeat motifs across the large bands are four stylised boats flanked by stylised pine trees with each boat topped with three large stylised flowers. A very narrow band of repeat stylised flowers, similar to those above the boats, within green foliage arcades, is at the extreme ends of the towel. Stitching is reversible. Green, pink, and yellow silk and coppery metallic threads. Turkish two-sided stitch (Musabak stitch), double running and double darning stitches have been used.
