Physical Description
An autographed tray cloth on white plain-weave linen ground. There is a border of drawn thread work inside the hem. Motifs on two diagonally opposite corners depict a scene showing kangaroo and yaccas encircled with wattle blossom and Sturt peas. The central pattern is filled with embroidered autographs and the date1899. The corner motifs suggest that the mat is of South Australian origin and the date and some signatures suggest that there may have been a connection with the Boer War.
