Physical Description

Animal skin (goat or sheep?) waistcoat with heavy black embroidery embellished with mainly amber and a few red and clear beads. The allover design on the two front panels includes vertical bands down each side of the front opening and horizontal bands across the two pockets, both with various different repeated motifs. Similar heavy bands at the back of the neck and from the shoulders down the back along with three large embroidered patterns. Repeat motifs appear to be naturalistic and reminiscent of flowers and trees. Very heavy black cotton thread has been used. All the edges of the garment have been bound with black vinyl. Stitches include double running, buttonhole, herringbone and satin with some knotted stitches.
