Physical Description

Architectural sampler of four merging bands of motifs and text, with an arcaded floral border. A small pink repeat pattern border frames the entire piece and a similar border, worked in reverse, frames everything inside the deep arcaded floral border. The motifs flanking the central imposing 'Pannal School' building, the Adam and Eve with striped snake coiled around a laden apple tree, a pot of flowers and a verse are symmetrically arranged. They include peacocks, floral sprays, baskets of fruit, pots of flowers, eight sided stars and birds. Signed 'Tamar Beck Work Finished in the Year of our Lord * 1824' Private Collection
