Physical Description

Beaded and metal thread embroidered Kalaga ("foreign curtain") wall hanging. Design and background are painted. All design elements are outlined with couched metal thread. Tiny blue beads embellish the design of working elephants with mahout. A wide stylised floral border is decorated with tiny copper coloured sequins and two narrow strips of applied tiny raised metal rings outline the floral border. Beige elephants on a black background, Tan or terracotta border. Edging and backing are in a maroon cotton fabric.
