Physical Description
A two piece dress, blouse (a) and skirt (b), made from heavy linen fabric. This folk costume from Roumania was altered for theatrical purposes. Geometric counted thread embroidery designs are worked the length of the sleeves, on the cuffs and the hem of the skirt in red, black, white and pale blue cotton. Stitches include running stitch, pattern darning, satin stitch, back stitch and buttonhole stitch. A crochet lace hem is worked on the cuffs. A narrow needlelace hem is worked on the skirt.
